A roof over their heads is a critical need of the elders who are destitute, sick and abandoned by their family and those uprooted by disasters. Many believe that it is a moral obligation to look after our elders, and here at SEVA Trust UK-India, we share your views. We believe that it is our duty to care for our elders responsibly, to treat them with dignity, and to provide them with the highest level of care possible. “A Home Away From Home” is an attempt to provide a homely and respectable living for the Elders with utmost commitment, dedication, trust and care to promote compassion and love.
This will have a Computer Centre to equip the youth from rural areas with digital skills. The Computer Centre will have 25-seater lab having high speed internet connection. Also, a Counselling Centre will be set up to guide the youths to pursue careers that will fulfil their future dreams.
This Center will provide training in sewing skills to women and set up a Production Centre for manufacturing clothing items. Aim is to provide income generation to the local women. In addition, an Innovation Centre will be established to develop new innovative products from locally available raw materials to provide sustainable income for the marginalized persons.
The rural areas need high speed and low-cost diagnostic facilities so that rural population can have proper knowledge about their health status. For this we will establish a Medical Dispensary cum Diagnostic Lab facility which will undertake regular health check up camps in rural area. This will also cater to the beneficiaries of Old age home and Home for Intellectually disabled children.
A Model Library cum reading room facility will be created in rural area. The rural areas are not catered by any Public Library although a lot of youth and educated persons reside in these areas. This Model Library will organize regular reading awareness sessions in nearby educational institutions and rural facilities to encourage youth and students to read real physical books and not e-books.
A Nursery will be set up for distribution of trees of native species in villages. This is being done to fight the climate change challenge. These tree saplings will be provided at low cost to community groups for plantation in public spaces.
A Community Radio is an effective tool for spreading social messages among the rural communities. No such Radio exists to cater to rural areas of Ambala. This Community Radio will be run by locals and broadcast radio programs developed by locals. It is an important tool to preserve our rich cultural heritage as well as dissemination of socially relevant information.
